Care to Learn

Health

Of the 900,000+ students who attend Missouri public schools, one in five live below the Missouri poverty line. These students often have unmet medical, dental, and mental health concerns that make learning more challenging.

Hunger

One in six kids is hungry each day and more than 200,000 children in Missouri live with food insecurity. Kids need healthy meals so they can stay energized, alert, and ready to conquer their day.

Hygiene

Under-resourced students are four times more likely to miss school. Students who have their clothing and hygiene needs covered feel included, recharged, and ready to take on the classroom.

The Mission

The mission of Care to Learn is to provide immediate funding to meet emergent needs in the areas of health, hunger and hygiene so every student can be successful in school.

The vision of Care to Learn is no child will suffer physically or emotionally due to lack of food, access to medical, dental or mental health care or hygiene issues.

Our district established a local chapter of Care to Learn just in September 2016. We welcome you to a partnership between the district and community to ensure healthy, fed, and successful students.

Care to Learn is a nonprofit and partners with The Community Foundation of the Ozarks located in Springfield, Missouri. All activities are governed by the best practices of nonprofits and must meet the standards for 501c3 governance. All donations to our local chapter are strictly charitable.  To learn more about the Care to Learn Organization, you can click on the link below.
